Hi! :)

Some people speak French, most high schools offers it (we all get to choose a third language in school if we like). Some jr. highs also offer basic French.

I've only known a couple of people who knew French at all, though.
A lot of African immigrants speak good French. :)

I personally find it nice to listen to, but it seems hard to learn! I did Japanese in high school (and exchanged there).

People here speak English fluently (most people at least), then some know good German, then I'd say Spanish, then maybe after that, French.

Hm - dorms are common. :) I've personally not lived in one, but you can expect a small cooking area, bed and comfort. Most university dorms will have personal bathroom/showers.

My impression is that there will be noise/partying around you. As for what not to do - don't smoke indoors! All the rooms will have alarms. ;) In Bergen, you will probably live in a dorm in a place called Fantoft. These dorm apartments have a LOT of international students - some complain Norwegian doesn't even get through there. :p

I just moved away from Bergen after studying there for awhile - feel free to contact me for any local questions! :) I lived in the Fantoft/Landås area.

I hope you'll get to experience Bergen in summer - it's absolutely BEAUTIFUL!
